Onwards and upwards towards race day in 15 weeks. Overall this was a solid week of training and I’m settling into a good routine and the slightly higher mileage weeks.

My runs this week:

  • Monday: 5.2km along the usual 5km neighbourhood loop. It was cold on Monday and I ran too fast as a result. I should be running easier on these “day off” runs.
  • Tuesday: 8.0km in -19ºC weather. Thankfully my time in Canmore prepared me for days like this. I was able to get out and run the scheduled distance.
  • Wednesday: 10.0km around the Upper Beach and Birchcliff. No issues and I felt strong on this run.
  • Thursday: 10.4km down to the waterfront and back up Kingston Road. More incline than usual for a weekday run, and I swapped the runs around to get this longer one done on a warmer day.
  • Friday: 8.0km on what turned out to be not as cold as expected. Nice to get 28km over three weekdays.
  • Saturday: 6.2km in advance of my Sunday long run. Still struggling to slow down a bit on these shorter ones.
  • Sunday: 15.1km with the Daniel and Miguel. It was a small SDRC group, but still quite enjoyable despite continued cold weather. At least it was sunny.

Total distance for the week was 61.2km which is down about 2km from last week. This week coming up includes the first Sunday mileage bump to 16km which we will probably turn into 18km so I’m expecting about 65km over the next seven days.

It’s going to be a tough start to the week with a big snow storm tomorrow promising 20cm or so. I’ll try and get out early and maybe beat the worst of it.
