I discovered the My Virtual Mission site the other day and immediately decided to set myself up a challenge to help motivate me to up the miles over the next month or so.

Starting today, I’m running from the historic Visitor’s Centre in Jasper, Alberta, down the Icefields Parkway to Lake Louise, along the 1A to Banff and eventually finishing in downtown Canmore, Alberta.

The route is 315km and I’ve given myself 35 days to run it. I hope to be done a bit before that, but five weeks seemed reasonable at this point in the year and for where I am at with my Sunday runs.

I opted to run from Jasper south to Canmore so I’ll stay interested as the scenery will become more familiar once I get to Lake Louise in a couple of weeks.

The site provides a nice way to follow my progress, and if you are interested, you can also join in. The first 30 days on My Virtual Mission are free and then after that it’s about $24USD a year.

If all goes well, I plan to put together a Calgary to Vancouver challenge for the summer to replicate a bit of the GVRAT fun from last year.
