Tomorrow morning I’ll run just over 6.4km and wrap up a 51 day daily running streak. I plan to not run again until January 1, 2021. My goal of 1,800km has been reached (I’ll top 1,900km tomorrow). My daily running goal when I started this latest streak back in November was always to run 51 days, ending on Christmas Eve.

Why am I stopping? Because we have other things to do between Christmas and New Years – namely some mental recuperation and hiking in the mountains – and I don’t want running to be something I need to stress about fitting into our daily schedule.

I could probably continue to run for the week. It’s 30 minutes a day, and I have no problem getting up and out at 6:00 A.M. if that’s what it takes to get the activities in. But I have no reason to do it, so I won’t.

I do have a reason to run again starting on January 1, 2021. I’ve set myself a goal to run every day in 2021 and to make that happen, I obviously need to run on the first day of the year. That run will be in Canmore, Alberta on the day we pack up and fly home.
